Key Initiatives and Results Expected:
Roles in Category Pricing develops and executes the strategy to achieve Zones profitability objectives for a defined set of products and manufacturers/publishers. This position sets pricing guidance and interfaces with PPM, Sales, Proposals, Supply Chain, eCommerce, and Finance teams to ensure the strategy is understood. This role will also work closely with the PPM Pricing and Bids team to evaluate and adjust the strategy to ever-changing market conditions.
Strategies and Essential Functions:
- Own and optimize the system pricing uplift modules by category for each sales segment.
- Identify high-velocity and low-velocity items in each category and execute strategy to manage both – providing a market-competitive entry price while maximizing gross margins.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets of varying size and complexity to determine optimal pricing strategies.
- Become the expert on estimating the value of products and services within the defined product/publisher scope.
- Work with a cross functional team to improve the integration and dissemination of data and intelligence across the company.
- Act as a key influencer for Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain for the products within scope.
- Track and analyze results and key metrics from sales performance. Evaluate and optimize effectiveness of pricing guidance. Design reports and findings documents. Distribute and present reports and key findings.
- Serve as subject matter expert to the Pricing Team on data trends and innovations that affect Zones’ customers, and prospects.
- Gather competitive intelligence, develop impact scenarios, and craft response plans.
Education
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Finance or related field
Required Experience
- Strong communication skills with the ability to correspond at multiple levels and functions
- 4-6 years in a related field (Data Analytics, Pricing, Bids/Proposals Management, Business Strategy, Finance, and/or IT-related fields)
- Extensive knowledge of pricing related to product/publisher scope
- Business-to-Business pricing analysis experience
- Experience in developing/working within Power BI reporting a plus
- Ability to translate sales and gross margin data into actionable reports for stakeholders
- Strong organization, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills to communicate across business areas
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent overall project management skills, and ability to execute tasks and prioritize multiple deadlines, working with various stakeholders
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
