DigitalOcean’s Storage Engineering group is a globally distributed product group that builds and operates the cloud-scale distributed storage systems powering internal and customer-facing services and products. We’re creating flexible and powerful solutions that our customers will leverage to ship their software as quickly, easily, and safely as possible.

The Storage team supports the operations and development of business logic, middleware, edge, and API solutions of our block and object storage products.  We are seeking an engineer who will help lead the development and support of current and future storage platforms at scale.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to make impactful contributions to key software, innovate processes and tooling, and debug interesting problems at cloudscale. 

Job Overview:

  • Participating in engineering efforts to design and deliver innovative storage products
  • Supporting the creation and operations of distributed systems
  • Programming in Go with gRPC
  • Collaborating with a motivated team of peers
  • Consuming from and contributing to free/open source software communities
  • Solving interesting problems in a technically rewarding environment

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and operating distributed software products in the enterprise or the cloud
  • 1+ years of experience programming in Golang with gRPC in a professional environment
  • 1+ years of experience breaking down technical designs and/or product requirements into an organized and prioritized set of tasks (eg, epics)
  • 1+ years of experience designing and implementing stateful, automated service orchestration for fleets of multiple nodes using tools such as Kubernetes/Helm, Ansible, and/or Chef
  • 1+ years of experience designing and implementing automated unit, functional, and integration tests in a continuous integration environment with automated test execution
