Sr. Platform Engineer II, Engineering Productivity

We are looking for a Platform Engineer with a passion for SDLC and Operations to help drive the productivity of DigitalOcean’s engineering teams. Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager, Engineering Productivity, this role will help build, integrate, operationalize, and maintain developer tools, and support frameworks and infrastructure to enable teams to deploy confidently and easily.

This position will provide immense growth and learning opportunities within the rapidly-expanding Engineering Productivity and Platform Engineering domains through challenging projects that include streamlining the adoption of developer tooling, software lifecycle observability, and easier integrations of teams into pre-production environments.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Building, integrating, and automating tools and systems required by engineering teams that empower productivity through ease-of-use and self-service
  • Increasing the observability of our platforms through data and the creation of new services tying critical measures to outcomes
  • Developing with languages like GoLang, JavaScript / TypeScript, and Python
  • Engaging with our engineering teams to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Instrumenting telemetry and engaging with Observability, building visualizations that reveal the performance measures and opportunities of Engineering Teams’ software lifecycle
  • Experimenting with various internal, open source, and commercial platform solutions based on the needs of our internal customers
  • Active engagement with and providing first-class support to our Engineering Teams
  • Participating in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule

What We’ll Expect From You: 

  • Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines, internal configuration management tools, GitHub / GitHub Enterprise, or equivalent 
  • A strong interest and obsession with building quality software focused on enabling developers to iterate on their ideas
  • Passion for shipping well-engineered and tested code and experience working full stack, whether it’s building or debugging
  • Demonstrated expertise with one or more of the following languages: Golang (Go), JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Rust
  • A natural curiosity to identify gaps and propose scalable, enterprise-grade solutions and opportunities for automation
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong Opinions, Weakly Held
